Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Filo, from setup to billing to data security.

What is Filo and How Does It Work?

Filo is an AI-powered Slack assistant. It hunts across your Jira, Confluence, Notion, and other docs so your team doesn't have to. Ask a question in Slack, get a neat, context-rich answer - no tab-hopping, no DM pinging, no chaos.

Behind the curtain, Filo uses something called Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). It scans your connected knowledge, pulls the most relevant bits, and replies in plain English. Basically, it's smart, speedy, and annoyingly reliable.

How Do I Install Filo in Slack?

  1. Hit the Slack App Directory or your Filo dashboard and click "Add to Slack."
  2. Authorize Filo for your workspace.
  3. Type your first /ask-filo question (yes, go wild).
  4. Connect Jira, Confluence, Notion, and any other docs you want Filo to read.
  5. VoilΓ  - answers appear directly in Slack.

Oh, and there's a 14-day free trial, no credit card needed. Yep, free brainpower.

How Do I Ask Questions?

Type /ask-filo and ask away:

/ask-filo why is shift creation restricted to managers?

Filo will:

  • Hunt your connected sources.
  • Summarize in plain language.
  • Link to the original doc (because credit where it's due).
  • Let you thumbs-up or thumbs-down the answer for future improvement.

Connecting Jira, Confluence, Notion, and More

  1. Open your Filo dashboard.
  2. Pick the integration you want.
  3. Authenticate. Give Filo permission to peek at your docs.
  4. Pick the projects or pages to sync.
  5. Filo will start indexing in minutes. You can edit or disconnect anytime - Filo doesn't hold grudges.

How Does Filo Actually Find Answers?

Filo doesn't just match keywords. It understands what you mean using semantic search + RAG:

  1. Your question gets turned into a vector.
  2. That vector finds the most relevant content.
  3. Filo spins a clear answer using the top results.
  4. End result? Answers that get the intent, not just the words.

Can I Track Usage & Knowledge Gaps?

Yes! Filo's dashboard shows:

  • Total queries & active users
  • Satisfaction rate & response time
  • Daily and hourly activity heatmaps
  • Most active Slack users

Use this to spot repetitive questions, gaps in your knowledge base, and see who's loving Filo (or not).

How We Handle Your Data and Keep It Secure

  • OAuth-based access for Jira, Confluence, and Notion - Filo only touches what you allow.
  • Fully encrypted in transit and at rest. Hackers don't get a peek, and neither do AI training sets.
  • Permissions are minimal, transparent, and fully documented.
  • Disconnect a source? Poof - all data disappears like magic.

Filo doesn't peek where it shouldn't. Your data stays yours.

Managing Permissions and Data Access

  • Decide which sources Filo can read.
  • Limit which projects, pages, or docs get synced.
  • Peek at what content your team is asking about.
  • Pull the plug on sources anytime.

Basically, you stay in charge, and Filo stays obedient - your knowledge base software doesn't run wild.

How We Auto-Sync Your Data

Filo likes to keep things fresh. Every 2 hours, we automatically sync what's new or changed - so your answers are always up to date without lifting a finger.

  • Only syncs what's new or updated since last time (your Slack won't notice).
  • Jira: grabs only "Done" issues that got updated.
  • Confluence: only fresh or changed pages.
  • Notion: same deal - updated databases and pages only.

How Can I Check My Sync Status?

Wondering if Filo's working hard or slacking off? Check the Data Sync Status:

  • Last Sync: When Filo last did its thing.
  • Last Sync Result: Number of items updated.
  • Status:
    • βœ… Completed – Sync finished successfully. All caught up.
    • πŸ”„ In Progress – Filo's currently working on it. Patience, please.
    • ⏰ Queued – Sync is waiting its turn. Almost there.
    • ❌ Error – Something went sideways. Needs a human hand.
    • ⏸️ Idle – No sync activity for now. All quiet.

Can I Manually Trigger a Sync?

Of course. Hit Start Sync in Jira, Confluence, or Notion. Filo will grab everything that changed since the last sync - keeping your AI answer agent sharp and ready for your team's repetitive questions.
